Aromatherapy

Plants were used for healing long before recorded history began. Ancient cultures handed down the wisdom of plant healing from generation to generation and although much has been lost, plants and their healing properties are still our most powerful tool in the challenge of modern living.

The active healing element of any plant is it’s naturally occurring essential oil. Each plant stores it’s essential oils in different areas such as the flowers, bark, leaves, fruit, roots and stems. Careful distillation extracts the highly concentrated oil, which can then be diluted with the purest carrier oil before application.

The selection and application of appropriate oils for the individual is the Aromatherapists art. A short history, and description of the clients present condition is taken on the first visit to the Aromatherapist. This information is necessary to select the appropriate oils to address the condition.

Massage is being rediscovered in our increasingly stressful often impersonal world, as a thoroughly renewing, relaxing and releasing experience. Working on the muscles, circulatory and lymphatic systems, often gently pressing on appropriate pressure points, the oils are massaged into the skin, which is the body’s largest organ. Absorption through the skin is the quickest most efficient way to ingest the plants healing properties into blood stream.

During the treatment inhalation of the beneficial actions of the oils naturally occurs, stimulating the olfactory senses and an immediate response to the brain. To facilitate full treatment clients are recommended to remove as much clothing as possible.
