Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a remarkable remedial therapy unusual because it uses very small, gentle and exact pressures on the muscles which achieve often immediate and lasting relief from sports injury, repetitive strain, chronic fatigue, long standing pain, and conditions such as hayfever, digestive disorders and stress.

Bowen Therapy is a very gentle form of bodywork unique in that it can be done through light clothing and concentrates on specific points on the body, rolling the skin over a muscle and pressing lightly with two thumbs on a small exact area rather than large manipulations or massage.

Another unusual feature of this therapy is that after each small set of moves the practitioner leaves the patient to rest for a short period to allow the body to absorb the gentle adjustments that have been made.

This prompts the bodys’ own healing process, in an often surprising way. Clients frequently report relief from other seemingly unassociated conditions, such as coming for treatment for lower back pain and experiencing not only relief from that condiition but improvement in hayfever symptoms and stress levels as well.

This shows Bowen Therapy to be a truly holistic, meaning ‘whole body’ therapy, initiating a balancing and realigning process which affects relief from specific trauma, tension and pain aswell as initiating a healing process in the entire system.

Bowen Therapy is being used more and more frequently by sports professionals for its ability to achieve fast and permanent recovery from injury and stress and achieving better all round performance.
