Chiropractic -The McTimony Way

Chiropractic is a straight-forward method of adjusting the bones of your body to maintain the correct alignment of your spine and ensure your body’s nerve supply works efficiently. Through these subtle adjustments Chiropractic treatment can relieve pain and discomfort, increase mobility and provide a route to better health.

McTimoney Chiropractic is particularly sympathetic to the body. A very sensitive light touch is developed during their four years of training. McTimoney Chiropractors work using only their hands with a specific set of light, swift and dextrous techniques to realign the bones of the body, when they detect subtle misalignments in the bone structure.

They focus in on the spine which houses the spinal cord through which nerve information is transmitted to rest of your body. Whilst the bones in the spine remain correctly aligned, nerve information is passed accurately, however if any part of the spine is misaligned then a nerve may become impinged, compressed or stretched, distorting the information that passes along it, causing pain, discomfort and restricted mobility.

A misalignment of a vertebrae or any bone can occur for many reasons such as incorrect lifting, car or other accidents, childbirth, falls, stress and poor posture.

At the first appointment the chiropractor will take a full history, and then examine all the joints of your body literally from head to toe, and make the appropriate adjustments where necessary. It is usually necessary to undress to the underwear.

The number of sessions you may need is dependent on various factors, firstly, the nature of the problem - a simple back ache will clear more quickly than a sciatic problem, secondly, how long you have had the problem - generally yesterdays injury will resolve faster than a problem of 20 years standing and lastly your age - healing is slower as you get older.
