Homeopathy

Homeopathy was first developed in the late 1700s by a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann. It is based on the principle of “like cures like”, sometimes referred to as the Law of Similars. It works by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes with highly dilute substances or remedies, prescribed for each individual to match their specific needs.

Homeopathy is used to treat everything from acute fevers, sore throats and toothache to chronic illnesses such as arthritis, eczema, asthma, anxiety and insomnia.

It is a gentle and very effective ‘holistic’ treatment. The word ‘holistic’ means “the whole body” - the mind, the emotions and the physical body.

The emphasis in Homeopathy being on the health and well being of the whole person as an individual including all of their symptoms, rather than the medical practitioner’s approach which typically just treats the ailment. Homeopathic remedies are completely safe, there is no danger of addiction or toxicity and can be prescribed for children and during pregnancy.

During your first visit to a Homeopath you will be asked questions not only about the symptoms you are experiencing but about your emotions, your likes and dislikes, your reactions to events in your life. This is to help the Homeopath discover the exact remedy for you as an individual.
