Reflexology

Reflexology has been used in Egypt, China and India for at least 5000 years, but has been practiced in Europe only for the last century.

Based on the principal that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a related part of the body. Sensitive, trained hands can locate areas of stress throughout the body by detecting tiny deposits or imbalances in the feet.

The body has the ability to heal itself, but following illness stress, injury or disease the body is in a state of imbalance and vital energy pathways are blocked preventing the body from functioning effectively.

Reflexology addresses these energy blockages by gently but firmly massaging specific areas of the feet which encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse and restoring the free flow of energy to the whole body.

After a preliminary discussion on your health background you feet will be bathed in water and aromatherapy oils. Most Reflexology treatments are given lying on the back fully clothed but with bare feet on a massage couch.

Occasionally a Reflexologist will give a seated treatment, but lying down allows for full relaxation and an ideal position for the Relfexologist to work.

Clients experience of Reflexology varies, it is possible to feel some discomfort, which is often an indication of congestion, but generally the sensations felt are pleasant and soothing.
